On October 7th, Lily Li Future Foundation hosted a book signing event featuring New York-based artist Wen-You Cai for her latest work Minnan Exit. This profound photo series and memoir chronicles Cai’s deeply personal experiences with the funeral rituals of Quanzhou, Fujian. Through evocative photography and insightful interviews, Minnan Exit explores themes of loss, mortality, and the cultural intricacies of Minnan traditions.
Wen-You Cai, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and Goldsmiths College, is a distinguished artist, curator, and writer. Her cross-cultural upbringing has been a cornerstone of her creative endeavors, which span multiple continents and mediums. Her work has been exhibited globally, with her most recent solo exhibition Meandering Recollections on display at Cafe China in New York through January 2025.
